Bontril is a drug similar to amphetamine which is a sympthomimetic amine. It is a substitute for more popular Phentermine diet pills. It is produced by Carnrick Laboratories Inc.
Usually Bontril is taken single time a day but a doctor may prescribe to increase the number of intakes in a day so as to fit your physical need. It should be taken as a whole which means that it should not be crushed or chewed. This drug is used as a short-term treatment for obesity. Its effect of appetite reduction decreases after a short period so this medicine is used in the early weeks of a weight-reduction program.
How Bontril works
Like all substitutes for Phentermine Bontril too affect the nerves and brains normally called central nervous system which in turn may lead to increase in BP (Blood Pressure) and heart rate which leads to decrease in appetite.
How to take Bontril
Bontril should be taken in empty stomach an hour preceding meals. The effects of Bontril alone cannot make one lose obesity in particular. It must be taken simultaneously with physical exercises and controlled diet plan.
Do not take Bontril if you have high BP (Blood Pressure) or heart diseases, arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), glaucoma, monoamine oxidase inhibitor in the last 2 weeks or a history of alcohol or drug abuse. Please tell your doctor if you have anxiety disorder, allergy, epilepsy, thyroid problems or diabetes before taking the drug. Pregnant women must not take more than what a doctor prescribes. In case of not following what the doctor says it might cause withdrawal symptoms in a newborn baby.
Bontril side effects
Heart problems, lung problems, vomiting, nausea, mental depression, pain in stomach, trembling, tiredness or unusual weaknesses are some of the major side effects associated with Bontril.
Missed dose of Bontril
In case of a missed dose you should skip the missed dose and continue with your scheduled dose. It is not advised to double up the doses.
