Prozac has been found useful in treating a wide range of conditions. Some of them are related to moods or emotions. It is used in cases of depression, panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder. It can also be effective in treating bulimia (an eating disorder), and premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

This medication works to improve a person’s mood and energy. It helps to increase the appetite and helps the patient be able to sleep well. Prozac can also help to decrease anxiety, fear and unwanted thoughts. It is effective at battling many types of panic attacks. It also offers some help for those who are compelled to perform repeated tasks like counting, checking and hand-washing. The drug is used when these compulsions interfere with daily living. It may also be able to help with relieving premenstrual symptoms like irritability, depression or an increased appetite. For those who suffer from bulimia it can help reduce binging and purging.

Occasionally doctors will prescribe this pharmaceutical product to help relieve another eating disorder, anorexia nervosa. It can help with post traumatic stress disorder. And it has also been used to treat some specific sleep disorders and disorders of the nervous system (catalepsy and narcolepsy).

Prozac is an antidepressant which helps with a number of various conditions. It can be very useful for treating depression or other mood and mental disorders. However, studies have shown that this type of medication can worsen depression and other symptoms. This includes increasing the occurrence of suicidal thoughts or attempts to commit suicide. This can be true even when it is used to treat conditions that are not related to a mood or mental condition. If you notice any of these symptoms or if the condition you are being treated for worsens, it is very important for you to contact your doctor immediately.
