Atorlip is a medication used in the treatment of high cholesterol levels in the blood. When high cholesterol levels are lowered, the risk of suffering heart failure goes down. Atorlip lowers levels of LDL (‘bad’ cholesterol) that is responsible for blockage and hardening or arteries. It also increases levels of HDL (‘good’ cholesterol) that reverses the hardening and blockage of arteries.

Atorlip should be used together with a low-fat diet. This makes it very effective among patients suffering from coronary heart disease (CHD) or hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol). These conditions can either be inherited or come as a result of the patient’s lifestyle.

Atorlip contains atorvastatin, which is classified as a statin, a group of cholesterol-lowering drugs. It works by regulating the amount of cholesterol generated by the liver. However, this drug cannot regulate the cholesterol derived from food, making it important to regulate the amount of cholesterol one eats.
