While their cause is not yet fully understood by the medical world, yeast infections do remain fairly common, and can cause unpleasant symptoms. This is why there are a wide variety of medicines that aim to treat these infections, while also fixing the cause. With this in mind, treating vaginal yeast infections, but also relieving external itching and irritation caused by the infection can be done with the help of Gyne-lotrimin.

To put things better into perspective, Gyne-lotrimin represents an antifungal agent, presented in the form of a cream that works by weakening the cell membranes of the fungus, thus provoking its death.

What should patients know prior to using Gyne-lotrimin?

At this moment in time, it is important to stay away from the cream in case you are allergic to any of the ingredients that it contains, if you’ve never had a vaginal yeast infection diagnosed by a doctor, if your itching is caused by another infection, or if you have stomach or shoulder pain, but also vomiting and foul-smelling of the vaginal discharge.

Prior to using Gyne-lotrimin, it is important to get a doctor’s consultation to make sure that the medicine is fit for you. During your consultation, make sure to let your doctor know if you are pregnant, if you are taking any other medicine, if you have any allergies, if you have a history of liver, kidney disease or diabetes, if you have been exposed to the HIV virus and if you’re taking antibiotics.

How should the Gyne-lotrimin cream be used?

It is important to follow the directions given by your health care provider to avoid exposing yourself to any complications, but also to make sure that the treatment will be efficient. Generally, the cream is meant for vaginal use only. Most treatment plans require you to insert the cream into your vagina once a night, before bedtime, every day for one week. In case you are using the cream externally, then simply squeeze a small amount into your hand and gently apply it onto the irritated skin in the vaginal zone.

To make sure that the yeast infection is cleared completely, take the medicine for the full duration of the treatment, and proceed to use it even if you feel better for a couple of days.

In case you have missed a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If the next scheduled dose is nearby, skip the missed ones and apply the next one instead.

What are the side effects associated with the Gyne-lotrimin cream?

Generally, some of the most common side effects include mild vaginal irritating, itching and burning. In case you experience worse, seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Currently, the medicine can be purchased from most online and offline authorized pharmacies at a good price.
